A CRAZED Coatbridge motorist who smashed into two moving cars and broke driving bans FIVE times has been jailed for three years – and banned from the roads for 10.
Kevin Hogg, 27, of Southfield Crescent, appeared from custody at Airdrie Sheriff Court, where he pled guilty to a catalogue of driving offences.
Prosecutor Annette Ward told the court: “The first offence happened on May 28, 2019, on various roads in Coatbridge, including Southfield Crescent, Calder Street, Sikeside Street, Paddock Street and Sykeside Road.
“He was driving while disqualified and without insurance.”
Ms Ward then told the court how Hogg had been driving dangerously on the wrong side of the road and smashed into a moving car on Paddock Street. He then drove onto Sykeside Road and crashed into another moving vehicle.
Hogg then breached a bail order, breaking a curfew on July 3 last year, when he should have been at home in Southfield Crescent.
Also on July 3, he again drove while disqualified and without insurance on Dunbeth Road, Burnbank Street,Cameron Street and Waverley Street, all in Coatbridge.
Again he was driving without insurance and while on bail from Glasgow Sheriff Court, an order imposed on him on June 20 last year.
He broke the driving ban a third time on July 3 on Calder Street and Southfield Crescent and then a fourth time on August 21, on Caradon Crescent in Moodiesburn; again he was driving without insurance.
On August 22, he used a fraudulent excise certificate for a car and also reset a stolen car, both offences taking place in Moodiesburn.
The court then heard he drove while disqualified and without insurance on August 27, on Maxwellton Road and Glen More in East Kilbride.
Defence lawyer Fiona Moreland confirmed that Hogg was pleading guilty to all of the offences.
He was jailed for three years and disqualified from driving for 10 years, and ordered to resit his driving test, by Sheriff Scott Pattison.
Sheriff Pattison told Hogg had it not been for his early plea he would have been jailed for four years.
The sentence was backdated to August 4, when Hogg was first remanded in custody.
