Coatbridge club to stage muscular dystrophy fundraiser

A busy fundraising day of family and sporting events is taking place in Coatbridge this weekend in aid of the hospital supporting a local toddler.

Big-hearted members of Bannan Fitness have teamed up with relatives of little Blake McFarlane, who has muscular dystrophy, to arrange the special day which will raise funds for the specialist clinic for the condition at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

The wide-ranging family fun day – taking place on Blake’s second birthday – includes football and boxing matches, a classic car show, fun fair and inflatables.

It takes place on Saturday, August 6, at the fitness club’s venue at the Janet Hamilton Centre; and visitors are asked to make a donation covering admission to the event.

There will be a children’s football tournament from 11am to 1pm and an Old Firm fans’ match from 2-4pm, along with a huge variety of stalls and other family attractions.

Bannan Fitness are then staging a boxing show from 6pm to boost the fundraising total, with tickets costing £10 being available separately from the club.
