Coatbridge business targeted by masked raiders during attempted robbery

MASKED raiders tried to rob a Coatbridge business on Sunday afternoon – with police appealing for witnesses.

The Rowan Place premises was targeted at 4.10pm with two suspects bursting in and demanding cash before making off empty-handed.

A staff member was left “badly shaken” following the troubling incident.

Enquiries to identify those involved are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

One suspect was wearing a blue hoodie, blue tracksuit bottoms and had a rucksack; the other was wearing a grey top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Lawrence, of Coatbridge CID, said: “Thankfully no one was injured but a staff member was left shaken by the incident.

“We are eager to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen these men before or after the incident.

“Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2570 of October 6, or make an anonymous call to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
