Coatbridge boxer Ricky Burns can beat the bookies and shock Lee Selby in London

Boxer Ricky Burns will  upset the odds and beat Lee Selby this weekend, says his manager.

The Coatbridge scrapper will battle it out in the lightweight bout at the O2 Arena on October 26.

The veteran 36-year-old goes into the London clash as the underdog, but manager Alex Morrison says the former three-weight world champion is confident.

“He is looking great in training and is at a good weight,” he told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser.

“He’s very confident going in that he will be able to win. He’s raring to go, he can’t wait to get out in the ring again.

“Lee Selby is the bookies favourite, so I guess it would be a bit of an upset if he did win.

“Ricky doesn’t see it that way at all and thinks this is a great chance to get back among the real big money again.

“He wants to get a few more worthwhile fights before he finishes up. He is still wanting to have a go at America but isn’t wanting to look too far ahead, but there is that ambition to go to the States.”
