Coastguard teams called out as person is stuck on rocks in East Lothian coastline during lockdown

Three coastguard teams were called out after a person became stuck on rocks along the East Lothian coastline during lockdown.

Rescue units from North Berwick, Fisherrow and Dunbar were alerted after the climber encountered problems while out at Horseshoe Point, Canty Bay, around 4.30pm on Sunday (29 March).

However, as the teams were on their way to the scene they were made aware that the person had managed to find their own way to safety, and needed no further assistance.

A statement from Dunbar Coastguard read: "Please follow government guidelines at this testing time and think about the dangers of an activity which in turn could lead to a requirement for assistance.

"If you see someone in difficulty or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, beaches, cliffs, mud or water, call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard."

An earlier post shared on the coastguard Facebook page told how people were still going to the coast and beach despite government warnings for the public to stay at home due to the coronavirus outbreak.
