An urgent appeal has been launched to help trace a 51-year-old man who failed to turn up to work on Monday.
Gary Flannighan has been missing from his home in Whithorn, Wigtownshire, since 9am yesterday, June 3.
Gary was dropped off to go to work at an address in Monreith, a coastal village in Galloway , however, he didn’t arrive as expected.
Now Police Scotland have launched an urgent search including mountain rescue and coastguard teams.
Gary is described as white, 5ft11 in height, of medium build, with brown hair, and blue eyes. He was wearing jeans and a zipper jacket.
Inspector Mary McCreadie, Galloway Division, said: “The fact that Gary didn’t turn up for the job today is concerning for us and his family. It is very out of character for him not to call his family during the day and when he didn’t come home this afternoon, police were called.
“Offices are currently searching the local area with the assistance of the Force helicopter, the coastguard and mountain rescue team.
“Monreith is quite a small village where everyone knows each other so it’s possible someone may have seen Gary in the area, maybe at the beach or in the village itself at some point today.
“If you have seen him or have any knowledge of where he may be, then please contact Police Scotland via 101. Please quote reference number 2686 of the 3 June 2019 when calling.
“We would also ask Gary himself to get in touch with us or his family to let them or us now he is ok.”
