East Lothian emergency services raced to a popular tourist beach after two children and a man got into difficulty in the sea.
The adult male was rushed to hospital following the incident at North Berwick beach on Sunday 1 August after 'ingesting large amounts of sea water'.
Police Scotland, RNLI and Scottish Ambulance Service all were in attendance at the stretch of beach at Tantallon Terrace near the Glen Golf Club.
All made it safely out of the water, with the man taken to hospital for precautionary reasons, reports the East Lothian Courier.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers assisted Coastguard and ambulance service colleagues to a person in difficulty in the water near to Tantallon Terrace, North Berwick, on Sunday, 1 August, 2021.
“A man was taken to hospital for treatment.”
The news comes after two young children and their mum were blown out to sea in a inflatable boat 'in seconds' last month at Dunbar beach.
The two boys, a seven-year-old and four-year-old, had been playing on an inflatable at Thorntonloch beach in Dunbar when they were washed almost 'two miles' out to sea.
One of the children's parents began to swim out towards the youngsters, but then got into difficulty as the tide and winds pulled the children further and further away.
Fortunately a passing work boat managed to save all three.
