A rescue operation was launched off the south Dublin coast after a number of swimmers appeared to get into difficulty off Dalkey Island.
Crews from the RNLI Dun Laoghaire and the local Coast Guard responded to a pan pan call after a member of the public alerted them that three swimmers seemed to get into difficulty off the northern end of the island.
A number of other local vessels, including kayakers also raced to the scene.
The swimmers were taken aboard a local boat and confirmed that they were not in difficultly however were taken back to Coliemore.
Following the operation, Irish Coast Guard Dun Laoghaire issued a warning to the public about the dangers of swimming to the island.
They said: "Please note, that swimming from the mainland to Dalkey Island is NOT recommended.
"There is an increase of leisure traffic travelling through Dalkey Sound during the summer months, while there is a speed limit in place of 5knotts, it maybe too late before the leisure craft see you.
"Also the currents in the sound or around the island are strong.
"Remember if you see anyone in difficulty near or in the water, dial 112/999 immediately and ask for the Coast Guard."
