The Saudi-led Arab Coalition, backing the Yemeni government fighting a Houthi insurgency, documented in 24 hours 20 militia breaches of the UN-brokered Stockholm Agreement on a ceasefire for the strategic coastal city of Hodeidah.
Violations of the truce were reported in Durhaimi, Tahita, Hayss, Fazzah, Jibliyya and Al Jah.
Meanwhile, local sources confirmed the outbreak of hostilities in a number of sites in Hodeidah, which overlooks the Red Sea and has the second largest port in Yemen after Aden.
National army forces have blocked infiltration attempts by Houthis militants in the central Al Bayda governorate while launching counter attacks across multiple fronts in Taiz, and the west Marib district of Sirwah.
On the other hand, Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan met with the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber. As reported by the Yemeni official news agency Saba, the two discussed needs of Taiz communities, namely humanitarian assistance.
Shamsan and Al Jaber also addressed major nationwide achievements scored by army forces.
The governor expressed thanks for the support Riyadh has provided to Taiz city in dire times, and said that Saudi assistance “reflects the nature of relations between the two brotherly countries.”
He praised the Kingdom’s efforts for supporting Yemen in various areas that included relief, humanitarian and service aid, stressing that the people of Yemen will not forget the honorable efforts Saudi Arabia has taken.
Al Jaber, for his part, confirmed the continued support for Taiz, pointing out that the coming period will see the resumption of work on approved construction projects.
He stressed that the Saudi program for reconstruction efforts in Yemen is fully prepared to help in improving and repairing the city’s infrastructure.
