Coalition: 180 Houthis Killed South of Yemen’s Marib

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said Friday it had killed more than 180 Houthi militants in strikes south of the strategic city of Marib.

An operation "destroyed 10 military vehicles and killed more than 180 terrorist elements" in Abdiya and surrounding areas, south of Marib, the Coalition said.

The Arab Coalition has said hundreds of Iran-backed militias have been killed in the battle for Marib in recent days.

Yemen’s legitimate government has reiterated that it holds onto a peaceful solution and backs the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg.

Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the UN Abdullah al-Saadi expressed hope that the Special Envoy's efforts will contribute to ending the crisis.

“However, while the government is ready to cooperate in this regard, the Houthis -- in return -- have continued their futile war, killing women and children with drones, snipers and mines,” he told the UN Security Council this week.

“Houthi militias persist in carrying out terrorist attacks against civilians, who face hunger, disease and death,” he said.
