Co Tyrone man left in critical condition after 'deadly car crash' in Philadelphia

The family of a young Co Tyrone man have thanked their community for support after he was involved in a serious car crash.

Patrick McStravog from Donaghmore was in a car accident on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia that resulted in the death of his friend and boss.

He and another passenger were both injured as a result and remain in critical condition in hospital.

The keen GAA player, who has been described as "the most joyful soul, with the kindest heart" works as a bricklayer in the US city and will now be out of work for the foreseeable future and wheelchair accommodation.

A friend of the 26-year-old has set up a Go Fund Me page to help with the costs of a rehabilitation programme.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Paddy's family said: "We just really want to thank everyone here in Ireland and in Philadelphia for their love and support, for Patrick at this time.

"And we also want to especially thank the Philadelphia Na Toraidhe hurling club, the Kevin Barry GFC and Connor and Jaclyn McNulty for everything."
