Talented Co Tyrone folk music star Niall Hanna has spoken of his excitement ahead of playing in front of a packed audience in Belfast this Sunday.
Niall will play a selection of songs which are to feature on his new album to be released in early 2021, and will be preceded at the Empire Music Hall by Greencastle singer Ciara Fox, and part of his backing group will be brother Ciaran and fiancée Rachel.
“The Empire would be one of the biggest venues I have played in here in the North,” the Derrytresk musician told MyTyrone.
“Performing my own music, I’ve been in the Duncairn and a few other places but they would be smaller.
“It will be a lot of new music, I have a new album which will be out in the new year. We are hoping for the end of February, March time.
“I’ll be playing a lot of stuff from that new album even though it’s not released yet.”
Niall was immersed in traditional singing at a very young age when he began to learn from the singing of his late grandfather, Geordie Hanna.
Since then Niall has combined the traditional style of singing with his guitar playing and has performed on many stages in across Ireland, the UK, Europe and Australia.
He added the depth of musical talent across Co Tyrone gives him a sense of pride, and he’s looking forward to playing with many of those faces on Sunday.
“Traditional folk singing would be strong in Tyrone, I’ve known Ciara from a long time ago and there are plenty of great musicians about.
“People seem to be enjoying it and love listening to it, so hopefully that will continue and people keep coming out to support us.”
