Co Tyrone care home lockdown trip under investigation

Residents of a Co Tyrone care home were taken on a day trip during lockdown, it has emerged.

The home's owners, Four Seasons Health Care, said the trip was "to a secure sensory garden".

But advice about the movement of people during the Covid-19 pandemic means the decision is now under investigation.

And a serious adverse incident has been initiated by the Southern Health Trust into Dungannon Care Home's trip in early May, as reported by the Local Democracy Service.

It is understood relatives contacted the Trust and a spokesperson said a investigation was set up in response to "ongoing concerns of relatives".

Now the circumstances will be investigated in a bid to "ensure lessons are learned for everyone involved".

Four Seasons said: "The Trust will have our full co-operation and of course FSHC will welcome any lessons which are learnt as a result of the process."
