Co-op urgently recalls Chicken and Stuffing sandwiches as they may contain pieces of metal

The Co-op supermarket is urgently recalling sandwiches over fears they may contain pieces of metal.

Chicken and Stuffing sandwiches are affected by the recall, which was issued on Tuesday.

Anyone who has bought the sandwiches is urged not to eat them and instead return them for a refund.

All "use by" are affected by the recall.

Food Standards Scotland said: "If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return the product to nearest Co-op store for a refund or contact: 0800 0686 727 / customer.careline@coop.co.uk"

The watchdog added: "This product may contain pieces of metal which makes the product unsafe to eat."

The Co-op has places recall notices in its stores around the UK, and apologised to customers for any inconvenience.
