Co-op unveils 25 new products as part of summer barbecue food range

The Co-op is the latest supermarket to unveil its summer barbecue food range that is ideal for a spot of al fresco dining during a social-distancing garden gathering.

Along with staple barbecue favourites including burgers and sausages, the Co-op’s collection also includes tasty items inspired by flavours from the Far East - such as teriyaki chicken kebabs and slow-cooked Asian-style chicken thighs.

Mirror Online reports that the Co-op’s new BBQ range consists of 25 new products and is available in stores for customers to pick up during their essential food shopping trip.

Breige Donaghy, Co-op’s Director of Delicious Food, said: “This year we’ve taken inspiration from the vibrant colours of summer and have explored flavours from across the globe.

"We’ve created tasty barbecue ranges that tap into the latest food trends from the Far East, such as Korean flavours, while also championing the iconic BBQ styles of the southern states of America.

"We’ve also introduced new products to our popular plant-based range, GRO, to make sure everyone is catered for at the barbecue."

Spicy Sausage Swirls (GF), 230g - £2.85 / 2 for £5

Outdoor-bred British pork sausages with sweetcorn, peppers and a spicy chilli seasoning. Made with 20% veg (Co-op)

Teriyaki Chicken Kebabs, 340g - £4 / 2 for £7

British chicken thigh kebabs with an Oriental-style savoury glaze finished with a Teriyaki drizzle (Co-op)

GRO Beet Burgers, 227g - £3

These vibrant burgers swap beef for sweet beets, chickpeas, lentils and Seitan and taste just as great as they look. Seasoned with garlic, thyme, salt and black pepper (Co-op)

Slow Cooked BBQ Beef Brisket, 380g - £5

Seasoned British beef brisket slow-cooked for eight hours, coated in a BBQ rub and served with a sweet, sticky BBQ glaze (Co-op)

Irresistible Hereford Beef Burger (GF), 340g - £3.20

The Co-op is also selling a FairTrade disposable barbecue for £6.
