A Co-op store in a Nottinghamshire village will reopen this week after a six-figure revamp.
The shop in Main Street, Radcliffe-on-Trent, will reopen on May 16, and will be open from 6am to 11pm seven days a week.
The refurb has included new fridges, tills and improvements to the back of shop facilities.
There are currently 19 people employed at the store, which includes an in-store bakery as well as the usuals, such as fresh food, wines and essentials.
Robert Newton, Co-op store manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Radcliffe-on-Trent.
"The store has had a major makeover with floor to ceiling improvements including the latest in refrigeration, new tills and, enhanced back of shop to enable the store to better serve the community – this is a great way for the store to mark the Co-op’s 175th anniversary this year.”
The store currently runs a membership scheme which sees members get five percent reward on purchases, with one percent donated to local good causes.
Radcliffe Methodist Youth Group, Radcliffe Olympic Football Club and Radcliffe-on-Trent Infant and Nursery School have all benefited from donations in recent years.
Alastair Cook, Co-op area manager, added: “We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op, and that the Co-op gives back to its members and the community - our members help us to make a difference locally, raising money for local causes simply by swiping their membership card when they shop with us.“
