Co-op shoppers rave about new food deal where you can bag five frozen items for £6

Shoppers have been left raving about a Co-op deal where you can bag five staple freezer items for just £6.

The cost of living crisis has meant that thousands of families have been left looking for cheaper ways to fill their fridge and freezers.

Following this, the Co-op is now offering a £6 frozen deal, where you can fill up on your freezer favourites.

For this cost, shoppers can bag themselves a pizza, garlic flat bread, potato wedges, chicken nuggets and Magnum Bites.

And bargain hunters have been left praising the deal, as it helps them save nearly a tenner to help with the cost of rising food prices.

The offer is available in all stores until February 14, 2023, and those with a NUS or TOTUM card will be able to get an extra 10% off.

This will take the offer down to just £5.40.

What’s more, is that if you were to buy all of the frozen items on the offer separately, it would cost a whopping £15.85 - meaning shoppers are saving at least £9.85 on the meal deal.

People have praised the Co-op for introducing the deal at a time that many households are struggling, with many saying they will make sure to stock up on the way home.

One person wrote: "Thank you for sharing, hopefully in stock in my local will pick up on the way home."

While another said: "The only good thing about coop is that deal they do for £6."

And a third put: "Will have a look in my local, thanks for sharing."

However, another person was left concerned that the deal is fuelling people to choose unhealthy options.

They wrote: "So I went into the coop to get ice cream for the kids and the ice cream was 4.50 but then I saw this deal £6 for all of this plus the ice cream…

"I just paid £7.25 for this punnet of Italian tomatoes no wonder people don’t chose the healthy option… absolutely mind blowing…"

While another wrote that the deal used to be cheaper before, saying: "Coop are doing a £6 frozen deal (used to be £5)…Pizza, garlic flat bread, potato wedges, chicken nuggets and Magnum Bites."

'It’s hard to ignore a saving of almost £10' Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk has said (LatestDeals.co.uk)

Items included in the deal are:

  • Birds Eye 12 Wholegrain Chicken Nuggets 190g, usually £2.75
  • McCain Lightly Spiced Potato Wedges 650g, usually £2.30
  • Goodfella’s Thin Crust Margherita Pizza 452g, usually £4.45
  • Goodfella’s Stonebaked Thin Garlic Bread 218g, usually £2.40
  • Magnum 12 Classic Almond & White Chocolate Ice Cream Bites 140ml, usually £3.95

The Co-op has noted that "All products are subject to availability" and that the offer is on while stocks last and in "participating stores only."

Speaking about the deal, Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: "The Co-op has saved the day again with this money-saving deal.

"It’s hard to ignore a saving of almost £10 - if you’re low on cash but want to get some treats in, this is a great way to do it.

"By dividing up the food, you can enjoy potato wedges and chicken nuggets one night, with pizza and garlic bread on the menu the following day."

He added: "Plus, if you consider that each item has basically been reduced to £1.20 each, that’s a great saving individually.

"For example, the Magnum ice cream bites alone would usually cost £3.95, but by paying just £1.20 you’re saving £2.75!"

A Co-Op spokesperson told the mirror that "The Co-op £6 freezer favourites deal offers shoppers the chance to save money and stock their freezers with customer-favourite meal solutions, which can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet and can be mixed and matched with vegetable sides at home.

"We do not promote the Freezer Favourites as a meal, nor suggest all the products on offer are eaten together."

They added that: "The five products on offer change every four-week period and have previously included frozen mixed vegetables.

"We have additional offers on fruit and veg in store with our ‘Fresh Three’ deals which we are available to buy alongside the freezer favourite deals."
