Co-op in Nailsea damaged by Storm Dennis

A supermarket in North Somerset has been damaged as Storm Dennis continues to cause disruption across the region.

Storm Dennis began to strengthen late on Friday night, worsening on Saturday (Feb 15) and with heavy rain continuing on Sunday (Feb 16).

On Saturday, the adverse conditions caused a tree to fall onto Brockley Combe Road near Bristol Airport, causing it to be blocked in both directions, while dozens of flights to and from the airport have been cancelled.

It has now emerged the Co-Op supermarket in Nailsea, North Somerset, was damaged by the storm, causing its sign to fall off.

The store is currently open and it is not known whether they had to close to deal with the damage.

On Sunday, there are yellow weather warnings in place for both wind and rain, but the heavy downpours are predicted to ease up this evening.
