An Irish woman now has a fascinating story to tell her newborn when they're old enough after she gave birth in a bike lane whilst on route to the hospital.
Mayo couple Aishling and Stephen Mohan, who are living and working in Brisbane, were en route to the hospital after Aishling went into labour.
However, unable to wait any longer, their new baby was born before they even reached the hospital, reports Irish Mirror.
Aishling told Australia's 9 News: "Just before we got to this set of lights, the baby's head came out. So we knew we have to pull over! I couldn't recline the seat back because the car seat was behind me, we've two car seats."
Thankfully, there happened to be a midwife in training named Emily who was walking to work at the Mater Hospital that passed by the car.
It turns out that nurse Emily always parks a couple of hundred meters away from the hospital and walks into work. On this occasion, she was due to start at 8am and just happened to be walking past the car at 7.45am when the child was about to be born.
Emily said: "When I got to the car, mom was really calm and comfortable. She won't say she was comfortable because she was on the handbrake! I just happened to be at the right place at the right time."
With her help, the couple's second child, a baby boy, was born in the front seat of their car without any complications.
Although the new baby has no name, dad Stephen joked that ‘Roadie’ is on the cards, but Aishling replied ‘eh, no’.
