Co Fermanagh spa picks up prize at Northern Ireland Hair and Beauty Awards

A Co Fermanagh spa has been named ‘Spa of the Year’ at the Northern Ireland Hair and Beauty Awards at the Europa Hotel.

The Island Spa at The Lusty Beg Island Resort picked up the award at the event on Sunday night.

Spa supervisor Sarah Harte paid tribute to her close knit team after winning the award.

Sarah told MyFermanagh: “We’re just so over the moon and myself and the girls have worked so hard this year.

“We came out of lockdown and into the busiest summer that the island had ever seen.

“It was so hard at the time going from being at home to being in the full swing of things but it was worth all the hard work.

“We have a team of just four of us in the spa, so it was tough going but we are a tight wee team and it’s nice for the girls to get recognised for all the hard work they did do.

“It will be nice now for us to have something to show for it all.

Sara added that she was so shocked to hear the news being announced that she thought she was making it up in her head.

“I was just in shock because it was just myself and one other girl there, I thought I just heard it in my head or did I hear the words coming out of the man’s mouth.

“We just sat there for a few minutes, just stunned.”

A number of other local businesses were recognised at the awards, including B Beautiful and Purple Haze Beauty Salon from Irvinestown and Eden Hairdressing of Enniskillen, all of which were category winners for Co Fermanagh.
