Co Fermanagh man Frank McCaughey reunited with his family after going missing in July

Co Fermanagh man Frank McCaughey has been found safe and well after going missing in mid-July.

The 29-year-old was finally reunited with his family at the weekend after almost three months with no contact.

The Enniskillen man was reported missing in Denmark over the summer and later spotted in Germany.

Frank, a keen traveller and photographer, had spent time working in the Enniskillen Hotel and the Lough Erne Resort. He had been on a trip to the Danish city of Aalborg but his family had not heard from him since July 12.

Last month, German police told the family that Frank had been sighted in Berlin after being admitted to hospital after having a seizure.

It was confirmed by Frank’s brother Conán that he had been found and he is now resting and recuperating at home.

In a Facebook post, he said: "Got Frank back home.. big thanks to my amazing sister Niamh McCaughey! Appreciate all the support and help from everyone over the last few months to our family. Frank resting and recuperating at home."

Speaking to MyFermanagh, Conán, 32, said the family were hugely relieved to have Frank back home at last.

"We're delighted to have Frank back with us as it has been a long time. He had a small seizure in hospital but he's ok. He ended up in hospital in Budapest after travelling to Hungary, which we didn't know until we were contacted to say he was there.

"My sister Niamh spoke to Frank on the phone and then flew out to Hungary last week. Luckily she was able to meet with him and see that he was ok so then she organised his flight back home.

"Frank flew back into Dublin on Friday evening and our mum and dad went down to pick him up. He has told us that he had just wanted some time away to travel but is now glad to be back home."

Conán added: "We were really worried at times about whether Frank was going to come home and wondering where he was because there was no contact. There were some really dark days when the trail had gone cold and we were really worried that he'd disappeared and we'd never see him.

"It was very unlike him but he's home now and he can hopefully stay at home for a while. The support of the community has been fantastic and so many people have reached out to offer help, which we're all so grateful for. All of the authorities involved have all been great too but it means a lot to have him back home safe and sound."
