Co Fermanagh chef Marty McAdam to appear on Great British Menu

Well-known Co Fermanagh chef Marty McAdam is to appear on the upcoming series of the Great British Menu.

The talented chef, who runs The Street Kitchen and Paget Lane in Enniskillen, will compete alongside three other chefs from Northern Ireland in the popular cooking show.

A total of 32 chefs will compete against each other for the top prize, with the show running three times a week for eight weeks on BBC Two. It launches on Tuesday, February 1.

Confirming the news, Marty said he has watched the programme since it first aired in 2006 and it was a dream to take part in its 17th series.

“It’s probably one of the biggest competitions in the UK to be asked to be a part of, and only a handful of chefs ever get the opportunity to do it,” Marty told MyFermanagh.

“It was an experience I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

“I’ve been watching it since season one when it was old school, and it was always a competition you never think you would get the opportunity to do.

“When I got asked to do it, it was kind of a no brainer.”

Marty revealed that filming for the series took place while he was in the process of opening The Street Kitchen, which proved to be a hectic few days.

“It was a really difficult time to go and leave the restaurant to film and compete.

“We had only opened three weeks and there was a lot going on to get it open.

“Millions of people watch it, so when I got asked of course I was going to do it.”

The show will be presented by former judge and chef Andi Oliver, with a new judging panel of chef Tom Kerridge, chef and restaurateur Nisha Katona and comedian Ed Gamble.
