A Co Down business has publicly faced down rumours about how they have handled a Covid-19 infection amongst their staff.
Pier 36 in Donaghadee publicly thanked their team for the commitment and vigilance shown to keep customers and colleagues safe.
They confirmed one staff member had tested positive for Coronvirus and explained what action they took to keep everyone else safe.
A spokesman said: “Early last week, one of our team members experienced what they thought could be very mild Covid-like symptoms and acted immediately according to our processes.
“They left the premises, informed us about their concerns and got tested and then isolated at home. “But their actions meant we were able to move very quickly to thoroughly deep clean the premises.
“The team member tested positive for Covid but thankfully has now fully recovered, and plans to return to work after their 14 day isolation.
“As a result of their quick action, we have had no other cases, and those who were tested as a precaution returned negative results.
“We followed all of the guidelines closely and our processes worked well. But we will continue to focus on doing everything we can to keep our team and our customers safe.
“This includes going even further than before, with temperature checks now introduced for all team members on their arrival at work.
“We will also continue to do all of things we’ve already been doing such as providing team members with masks and visors, ensuring frequent hand sanitisation, cleaning the premises during the day, and having overnight sanitisation by an expert external contractor.
“Like our team member who acted so quickly, all of us at Pier 36 & Harbour and Company will continue to be totally alert and focused on keeping each other and our customers safe.
“I have to thank the staff for working with us so diligently to follow the Covid guidelines.
“I also want to keep our customers informed about what we’ve been doing to ensure they can enjoy Pier 36 & Harbour and Company with confidence.”
