Co Down GAA club suspends activity after coach tests positive for Covid-19

Another GAA club in County Down has ceased activity after a member tested positive for Coronavirus.

Castlewellan GAA released a statement on their Facebook page on Thursday afternoon confirming that a coach within the club tested positive for Covid-19.

A spokeperson added: "The member has taken all the appropriate measures as advised by the Public Health Agency.

"At this time, the executive committee of Caisleán á Mhuilinn CLG have no option but to temporarily shut down all club activities as a matter of urgency. There will be no club activity until Monday, August 3 at the earliest, this date is subject to a possible extension.

"We are encouraging all our senior ladies footballers to arrange for themselves to be tested as soon as possible.

"We would like to thank the Down County Boards for their support and understanding in the manner.

"Since resuming club activities, Castlewellan GAC have at all times adhered to the advice and guidance issued by Public Health guidelines. The health and wellbeing of our members and community is our priority hence our decision to temporarily cease activites.

"We would like to take this opportunity to send our best wishes to the affected coach. We wish them a speedy recovery."
