Co Derry train suspensions after vehicle strikes bridge

Some train services in Derry have been suspended this afternoon after a vehicle struck a railway bridge.

Services using the bridge, on the line between Coleraine and Castlerock are halted until further notice, Translink say.

“Due to safety concerns, all train services are suspended from using the bridge until an inspection has been carried out. Bus substitution services are in place until further notice," a spokesperson said.

“Once this inspection has been completed to our engineers’ satisfaction, the line will become operational again. It is anticipated that this will be the case later today.

"Passengers can keep up to date with the situation by following our web and social media channels.’’
