Co Derry man suffers 'bleed on brain' following alleged "violent assault"

Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged "violent assault" after a man suffered a brain bleed and suspected broken jaw after being pulled from a taxi in Co Derry.

The incident is reported to have happened in the early hours of Sunday on Plantation View, Limavady.

A 30-year-old man was arrested but later released on bail.

Detective Sergeant Wallace said: "Shortly after 2.40am, it was reported that a male had been pulled out of a taxi and violently assaulted by another male.

"As a result of this seemingly unprovoked assault the victim in this case has suffered a bleed to the brain and a suspected broken jaw. "Police arrested a male at the scene of the incident, he has since been released on Police bail. "Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and we are following a number of lines of enquiry at this stage. "We would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 214 15/03/20.
