Co Derry fashion blogger shares new Autumn trend style inspiration

A Co Derry blogger has shared some Autumn style inspiration for fashion lovers.

Eimear O’Kane, of @styled_by_eimear on Instagram, knows all things beauty and fashion and creates outfit ideas for her followers.

The 22-year-old from Draperstown is a keen believer in affordable fashion - all of her visual representations of outfits are made with pieces available from the high street.

She told Be that she came up with the idea of creating her own style account as she thought, ‘I would have nice style if I could actually afford to keep up with fashion’.

Eimear added: "From then, I started making digital style boards as a visual representation of outfits I would wear myself.

"As a student, my focus is often affordable fashion and I spend my time looking for pieces that won't break the bank or will be serviceable in years to come.

"Fashion, for me, is a form of self-care, I can see why retail therapy is a thing. I think it’s hugely important to get dressed in something nice to make you feel good about yourself.

"My interest in fashion goes way back. I can remember carrying a furry pink handbag in the shape of a dog around at the age of three. It’s just always been fun and I hope to still be shopping for handbags when I’m eighty."

The trends Eimear expects to see coming into Autumn are:

  • Large balloon sleeves as seen on the runway
  • Layered knit wear
  • Aran knit jumpers and cardigans
  • Fringing

  • Smock dresses

  • Cropped blazers
  • Faux leather in an array of colours
  • Check
  • Chain detailing

The Autumn staples Eimear thinks we should all have are:

  • Tailored coat
  • Turtle neck jumper
  • Boots
  • Puffer jacket and
  • Stylish, yet comfortable trainers

The fashion blogger added: "When shopping for Autumn, don’t feel the need to buy a whole new wardrobe in earthy, rust and mustard tones.

"A pop of colour can be added through a hairband or a nod to the newest trend can be made in the most subtle of ways. Add to what you already have."

The fashion lover's favourite high street stores are Zara, as she prefers 'their minimalist aesthetic' and 'great interpretations of catwalk favourites'.

Eimear also likes H&M for their good quality basics and on-trend items, with an inexpensive price tag.

Her favourite trend at the moment is 'the resurgence of yellow-gold jewellery', large gold necklaces and gold knot earrings along with stacking rings for a vintage vibe.

She added: "My least favourite trend is the kitten heel comeback and safe to say, I was not one to jump aboard the bandwagon.

"My favourite outfits to wear are casual. Autumn is my favourite season to dress for. Think layering, rich autumnal colours, coats, boots, turtle necks and of course a pumpkin spiced latte in hand for good measure."

Here are some gorgeous outfit ideas put together by the Co Derry woman.

1. A perfect and classy weekend outfit

2. Great for going out for dinner

3. Perfect for a lunch date

4. A trendy casual outfit idea

5. Perfect for your first night out in Autumn
