Co Antrim teenager keeping Belfast Met students fit and healthy during lockdown

A Co Antrim teenager is helping keep Belfast Met's students fit and healthy during lockdown.

Enterprising Khloe Cooper, 19, has made it her mission to keep people active by providing free fitness and circuit demos online.

Khloe has successfully passed her Level 3 Fitness Instructing course and is currently completing her Personal Training full-time.

The Newtownabbey teen hopes her sessions help everyone out during the Covid-19 crisis.

“My aim is to help everyone out with health and fitness during this lockdown, and for the future," she said.

"My page is aimed at all levels of ability - I want to help everyone in the local community including all Belfast Met students and staff to get fit and keep fit.

"I am doing daily uploads of sessions and circuits which everyone can do at home, as well as doing Live sessions including Motivation Monday, Workout Wednesday and of course Fitness Fridays, all free of charge.

“All you need is 15 minutes a day of this kind of exercise, so if you complete one of my sessions, circuits or take part in my live workouts that is your daily fitness done for the day, and then you can get on with your work, study or whatever your day involves.”

Belfast Met lecturer Kim Murray says the benefits of exercise can be felt in body and mind.

“The benefits of exercise are conclusive.  Exercise gives you energy, it lifts your mood and mental state, so makes you feel better," Kim said.

"Khloe is offering live sessions daily - all free and easily accessed on your mobile phone via Instagram.

"Khloe is fantastic at getting us all a bit fitter, healthier and happier, all for free from our own home.”

Khloe’s goal is to carry on building a fitness community and continue her studies once she graduates to do a degree at university.

Her other passion is football which she has played since she was eight years old at different levels, including representing Northern Ireland at U19s level.

As a Level 2 FA qualified Football Coach, she has coached her own team whilst playing football in England for Leeds United ladies and Bradford City.

Khloe’s videos and live keep fit sessions are available on Instagram @thept.kc where she has structured up to 30-minute sessions with lots of variety, including HIIT Circuits, Upper Body & Core challenge, Lower Body & Core challenge, Abs & Cardio, Full Body,  Glutes focus and resistance band challenges.
