A man is to stand trial charged with murdering a father-of-one in North Belfast , a judge ordered yesterday.
Jordan Snoddy, 22, is accused of killing Robert Molloy-Jones and having a wooden chair leg as an offensive weapon in public.
Mr Molloy-Jones, 30, died following an incident at Parkmount Street in the Tiger’s Bay area of the city in June last year. He is understood to have suffered a serious brain injury.
Snoddy, of Doonbeg Drive in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim , denies murder and claims to have acted in self-defence.
He appeared before Belfast Magistrates’ Court for a preliminary inquiry hearing.
Charges of murdering Mr Molloy-Jones and possessing a chair leg in the vicinity of the alleged attack were put to him.
Defence barrister Declan Quinn did not contest prosecution submissions that Snoddy has a case to answer.
With no further details disclosed, District Judge Fiona Bagnall granted an application to have the accused returned for Crown Court trial. She remanded Snoddy back into custody to appear again for his arraignment on a date to be fixed.
