Co Antrim FA Women's Cup cancelled amid coronavirus crisis

This season's Co Antrim FA Women's Cup has been cancelled.

Organisers said they had taken the decision due to current Covid-19 restrictions.

The quarter-finals of the competition were due to be staged on May 18.

The County Antrim FA said: "Given the current situation and particularly restrictions relating to football, the Committee have determined that the competition cannot be completed this season and the cancellation of such will allow teams further capacity to complete league fixtures, should the current restrictions be lifted."

The cancellation follows the postponement of the Danske Bank Women's Premiership which was due to kick-off on April 22.

All football in Northern Ireland is currently suspended and it is not known when competitive action will return due to ongoing coronavirus safety restrictions.
