Co Antrim FA 'remains committed' to completing Junior Shield

The Co Antrim FA says it remains committed to completing this season's Junior Shield.

The competition remains locked at the semi-final stage but it is hoped that competitive football can resume on July 17.

The NI Executive recently outlined its Covid-19 recovery protocols which offered some hope of sport returning here.

In a statement, the Co Antrim FC said: "It remains the desire of the Association to complete the Toals Junior Shield which is at the semi final stage, if possible, ahead of the season deadline of 31 July.

"The Association awaits guidance from the Governing Body, the Irish Football Association in relation to the required protocols for hosting the fixtures.

"No decision on the scheduling of the fixtures will be made until this guidance has been received.

"The Association will provide a further update at the earliest opportunity  for Clubs and Supporters."

In this season's semi-finals Harryville Homers are due to meet East Belfast II's and Ahoghill Thistle take on Shamrock FC.

It has already been confirmed that this season's Irish Cup will be completed at the end of July.
