Co Antrim cafe offers free Christmas dinners to those in need to mark 11 years in business

A Co Antrim cafe has announced plans to offer free Christmas dinners to those in need as a way of "giving something back" to the local community after over a decade in business.

In a post on social media, Ballymoney-based cafe A Bite Above said the kind gesture is their way of "giving a little something back", which they hope will "put a smile on someone's face".

They wrote: "We didn't do anything to celebrate 11 years in business at the end of November so thought this would be a good way of giving something back.

"Numbers will be limited as I have limited storage chill space however if you know someone please get in touch privately.

"Thank you so much for your support. It really does mean the world and there is no better place for community spirit than our wee town, Ballymoney."

Jamie Darragh, owner of A Bite Above, told Belfast Live: "I simply just wanted to give something back this Christmas to people who needed it.

"No one should be alone or go without a meal on Christmas Day."

He added: "I only run small cafe but I've been extremely lucky over the last 11 years with wonderful customers who have supported me throughout.

"Above all I am truly blessed with wonderful family and friends."
