It's not easy explaining complex macroeconomic issues on the small screen. Just ask CNN's Jim Boulden, who decided to head for the woods in the south of England in his bid to illustrate how the global economy might find a route out of the recession. Given the three-minute package he ended up with – featuring a tortuous metaphor about a camp fire – perhaps it would be best if he stayed there. It's about "seeing the wood through the trees", you see. Lighting a fire under the global economy? Tick. Pouring petrol on the dying embers of the economy? Tick. Black smoke of inflation? Double tick. And that's not to mention the comedy werewolf howl and the money growing on trees – literally! Monkey can't see the facts for the crap.
