CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan pays tribute to Kalyan Singh on behalf of Madhya Pradesh residents

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday reached village Narora of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh where the mortal remains of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh were consigned to flames. Chouhan paid tribute to the departed leader.

"Kalyan Singh ji was not an individual, but an institution and a movement. From childhood, in his heart, in his mind, the fire of welfare of the poor, peasants, backward and exploited was manifested. And it was manifested not only under his leadership, but also in his poems," recalled the Chouhan.

He further said, "For the first time, he (Kalyan Singh) had made a charter of rights for the farmers of the country and in a way had blown the bugle for the revolution. Born in a humble family to be the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, it was his resolve to build a grand temple at the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya. "

"On the day when the foundation stone was being laid, he (Kalyan Singh) had said with great satisfaction that today the goal of my life has been accomplished. How popular was he despite being away from active politics?" added Chouhan.

"On my behalf, on behalf of the 8.5 crore people of Madhya Pradesh, I pay tribute to him. I pray that the Lord grant peace to the departed soul," said Chouhan as the last rites were performed. The chief minister also recited a poem "Tutey Ghar Gharaunde", written by Kalyan Singh to recall his memory.

The former Governor of Rajasthan passed away at the age of 89 at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow on August 21 after prolonged illness. Union minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti were also present among other top leaders and BJP workers.
