CM Naveen Patnaik lays foundation for Adarsha Vidyalaya

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday laid the foundation stone for Adarsha Vidyalaya Centre of Excellence at Andharua, on the city’s outskirts. The school will be set up in a 25-acre area at an estimated investment of Rs 100 crore.

“The school will be a milestone in the current programme of school transformation in the state and will play a major role in providing quality education to meritorious students from rural areas of the state,” Naveen said. The school will have a total of 1000 seats, 500 each for classes XI and XII, who will be selected from 314 Adarsha Vidyalayas across the state. The centre will have 13 acres for the school building with as many as 26 classrooms, eight laboratories, four hostels, 22 teaching staff quarters and guest rooms besides 12 acres of playground.

“The school will start admission from the 2022-23 academic session. Apart from regular studies, students will get coaching for various national level entrance examinations including the National Defence Academy (NDA),” school and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash said. The CM also addressed the 443 newly appointed teachers of Adarsha Vidyalaya and asked them to make the school a model for others across India.
