Clydeside Expressway crash: Two women rushed to hospital as stretch of road closed for three hours

Two women have been rushed to hospital after a one-vehicle crash left the Clydeside Expressway shut for three hours last night.

The collision occurred at around 7.55pm yesterday on the A814 eastbound and involved a white Renault van. The male driver was also checked over by paramedics but did not require hospitalisation.

Two lanes were shut down following the crash by the police, with Traffic Scotland also confirming the incident and warning drivers to avoid the area.

Multiple emergency vehicles attended the scene near Finnieston with traffic backed up to the Riverside Museum.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a single vehicle crash involving a white Renault van at around 7.55pm on Thursday, 12 August, 2021 on the A814 eastbound Clydeside Expressway, near to the M8 on slip Kingston Bridge, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and two female passengers from the van were taken to hospital for treatment. The male driver was assessed by medical personnel at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

“The road was partially closed for three hours as emergency services responded to the crash and enquiries remain ongoing.”
