Clydeside Expressway crash: eastbound carriageway closed with emergency services at scene

A crash on the Clydeside Expressway this evening has led to the closure of the eastbound carriageway.

Police are currently on the scene following the incident which happened shortly after 7.30pm, near to the SEC.

Photos sent to Glasgow Live show traffic significantly backed up on the A814 road, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) have confirmed: "The eastbound carriageway of the A814 Clydeside Expressway is currently closed to all traffic (between Stobcross Street, Riverside Museum and Finnieston Street) while emergency services can deal with a road traffic collision.

"Road users are advised to use an alternative route as delays are being experienced."

Glasgow Live have contacted Police Scotland for comment.

UPDATE: Police have confirmed: "Police were called around 7.30pm on Thursday, August 13 2020, following reports of a two-car road crash on the Clydeside Expressway in Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended, however there does not appear to be any serious injuries."

"A man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal on road traffic offences."

TRAFFIC UPDATE: TRAFFCOM have advised: "All eastbound lanes are now open and running clear."
