Clydesdale Bank launch 'full investigation' after error leaves customers without January wages

Scores of Clydesdale Bank customers have been expressing their anger after a system error left them without their January wages.

Thousands of people are understood to have been affected by the issue, which stems from a BACS system failure. Some Yorkshire and Virgin Money customers have also been left out of pocket.

Clydesdale Bank said they have launched a full investigation into the incident.

They posted: "We are aware of the issues some customers are having with transactions coming in to their accounts. We are doing a full investigation and ask that you please bear with us whilst we find out what is causing this. Any further information will be provided as soon as we have it."

A number of people have taken to social media to express their anger after learning that they hadn't been paid.

Sandra Maggs tweeted: "The problem is the lack of ownership of the issue and there's no indication of when this will be fixed. Terrible customer service. I have in the past recommended Clydesdale Bank, but never again."

Sarah Douglas added: "Will it be sorted by today? I have no money and have bills to pay and three kids to feed."

Clydesdale Bank added: "We want to reassure customers concerned about potential charges as a result of the current issue. Customers will not be negatively impacted financially and we will make good on any charges automatically generated. We are sorry for any inconvenience customers are experiencing."
