Clydebank toddler killed after top floor flat fall named by police

The tragic toddler who died after falling from a top floor flat in Clydebank has been named.

Lexi Bergene, one, passed away in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children yesterday after losing her fight for life after the horror fall the previous day.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Dumbarton Road at 2.10pm on Wednesday and the little girl was rushed to hospital.

Sadly she could not be saved.

Police Scotland's Detective Inspector Steve Martin said on Thursday: “The little girl’s family have been left devastated by the loss of their child and we are investigating the circumstances surrounding what happened.

“I continue to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have rendered assistance to the family or emergency services, to please get in touch.

“I would also ask any motorists who were in the vicinity to check their dashcams in case they have captured anything which may be of significance."

Residents of the West Dunbartonshire town have been offering their condolences to the family following the incident.

Many have taken to social media , including the "Call yourself a Bankie" Facebook group, to pay tribute to the tragic tot.

Emma Scott wrote: "Rest easy baby girl. You were taken too soon. You were to good for this world. You will be missed".

Mandi McPops added: "Heartbreaking, sleep tight with the angels little darling, thoughts are with the parents and family".

We Horrified neighbours heard woman's screams after toddler, 2, fell from window of Clydebank flat a shocked witness who lives across the road came across a scene of chaos.

He said: “I was cycling to the park with my young son.

“All you could see was this massive pool of blood all over the pavement.

“There was one woman in total hysteria, she couldn’t stop screaming and crying. That could have been the wee girl’s mum."

A cordon was put up around the scene while police stood guard at the flats.

A top window was open and children’s toys could be seen in a black car within the cordon on the street below.

Another local said they heard “constant screams”.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Family Protection Unit based at Clydebank Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 1888 of Wednesday, April 10.
