Clydebank flat fall toddler fundraiser smashes target for tragic family

A fundraiser set up to support the grieving family of a toddler who died after falling from a top floor flat window has smashed its target.

More than £1000 has been raised after Lexi Bergene, one, passed away on Thursday, April 11 after plunging from the third-floor of a flat in Dumbarton Road, Clydebank the previous day.

The "In Memory of Lexi" GoFundMe page was set up to raise money to give to Lexi's heartbroken mother Maureen to help her "in any way she needs".

After hitting the goal, Ashley Murray who set up the page wrote: "I will now end the fundraising and pass everything to Lexi's mum Maureen, thank you so much to every single person that has taken the time to donate and leave lovely comments for the family.

"Maureen is very thankful to every single person who has contributed and shown there support. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart."

We also revealed how a shocked witness who lives across the road came across a scene of chaos on Wednesday, April 10.

He said: “I was cycling to the park with my young son.

“All you could see was this massive pool of blood all over the pavement.

“There was one woman in total hysteria, she couldn’t stop screaming and crying. That could have been the wee girl’s mum."

A police cordon was put up around the scene while police stood guard at the flats.

A top window was open and children’s toys could be seen in a black car within the cordon on the street below.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the family protection unit at Clydebank Police Station.
