Clyde win over Partick Thistle 'overdue' as Danny Lennon talks derby bragging rights

Clyde boss Danny Lennon dubbed the derby win over Partick Thistle "overdue" after the League One opener.

Ally Love's goal secured The Bully Wee's first win over the Jags since 2007 when both sides were in the old First Division.

Delighted Lennon heaped praise on his squad after the battling victory over the title favourties.

He said after the final whistle: "First and foremost it's three points against your local rivals and probably the league favourites, in my opinion.

"It's a derby that has been 10 years overdue. It's fantastic and I thought it was an overall fantastic performance.

"The players have worked extremely hard in the close season. You could see the experience we have and the energy of the younger players.

"Credit to Partick Thistle, they are a good quality side, you could see where there strengths were but I thought we contained that.

"We were fantastic with the ball and as much as we were with it. Our choices in the final third could have been better.

"You could see when Thistle started opening up why teams mark David Goodwillie so closely. He is fantastic in one v one or two v two situations."
