Clyde were great for me, but Airdrie need the points, says star Dylan Easton

Dylan Easton admits he had a great time as a Clyde player, but is looking to dump his old club when Airdrie visit on Saturday.

With Airdrie having sat out last weekend as positive Covid tests forced a postponement of their clash at home to Queen's Park, Easton and his teammates are keen to get more points on the board as they chase the League One title.

Easton was at Broadwood in season 2016-17 but only payed five times before rupturing a cruciate ligament in a 3-2 win over Arbroath, which curbed his spell there.

But the attacking midfielder is now just eager to help Ian Murray's side get closer to the summit.

He told Airdrie's website: "I actually really enjoyed my time there. I only played six or seven games before I got my serious injury, and I was loving it there. I was doing really well, and it was obviously horrible to get the injury.

"Going there on Saturday won’t be nice, but we’re looking to get the win and that’s obviously what I’ll be hoping to do."

Airdrie go into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Montrose on December 7, and Easton is looking for a reaction to that loss.

He said: "On the Tuesday night against Montrose it wasn't what we wanted. Obviously the circumstances with the weather and the conditions were very difficult.

"It was the same for both teams, but I think being at 1-1 or even 0-0, the minimum you want to do is take a point.

"It's not what we were looking for, but we've always said this from the start of the season that with this squad, when we get a dunt it's all about getting a reaction.

"We've got to dust ourselves down again, have a good week's training, and go again on Saturday away to Clyde."

Clyde beat Alloa 1-0 on Saturday with an Ally Love strike, and Easton knows they will be tough opponents on their own patch.

He said: "They pick up a lot of their results at home, but obviously last week at Alloa they’ve had a good result so they’ll be looking to keep that momentum going.

"We’re on the back of a loss, so we’re looking to put that right and pick up the three points.”
