Clyde Valley High pupils hit the right notes with release of original Christmas song

It’s Christmas Time in Clyde Valley High’s music department after students released a brand new original song.

Written and composed by Dylan McLean and Logan Reid, “Christmas Time” was launched online on December 1.

The lead vocals on the song are by Ellie McGlone and backing vocals were provided by the school choir.

The lyrics were mostly written by Dylan and the clue of the theme is in the name.

Logan said: “I’m not very good with lyrics so Dylan did a lot of the work. It is about Christmas and the excitement at that time of year all put into a song.”

Dylan said: “I did my research on other Christmas songs but it is mainly composed of what I think the season is all about and I think most people might think the same.”

The lads are currently studying advanced higher and higher music and as part of their course have to compose a song.

“We were just getting to that stage where it was almost Christmas and I thought this would be a nice thing to do,” Logan said.

Getting the choir involved was quite a big thing for the guys, as they wanted to make it as special as they could.

Logan said: “We asked Mrs Traynor (head of music) if we could get the choir involved and perform at the Christmas concert. I think she thought we were joking at first.

“All instrumentation was recorded on Dylan’s keyboard and we recorded and mixed in the school’s state-of-the-art music studio.”

Both Logan and Dylan hope to get a job in the music industry, with Logan hoping to study Music Teaching at Aberdeen Uni and Dylan staying involved in the technical side.

The song is now available on iTunes and Spotify and further info can be found on the school’s music department Twitter, @music_cvhs
