Clyde Tunnel Expressway locked down after man falls onto road

A section of the Clyde Tunnel Expressway has been closed after a man fell onto the road.

Emergency services rushed to incident at around 9.40am today.

The man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

His condition is unknown.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "The Clyde Tunnel is currently closed following a report a man had fallen on the A739 Expressway. Emergency services attended and the man was taken to the QEUH."

Traffic has been ground to halt on the southbound carriageway as police block the road.

Officers on the scene have put diversions in the area while the road remains closed to drivers.

A spokesperson for Glasgow City Council said: “Due to an ongoing Police incident, the A739 Clyde Tunnel Expressway (Southbound) is currently closed at the Govan Road Overbridge. The Southbound Bore remains open although all traffic is being diverted via the Govan Road off slip. Road users should expect delays.”
