Clyde Tunnel closed after fire in car as emergency services rush to scene

A fire has broken out in a car within the Clyde Tunnel.

The blaze occurred at around 7pm this evening, with emergency services rushing to the scene soon after.

The tunnel remains closed to all vehicles in both directions while crews deal with the incident.

No one is reported to have been injured in the incident, and the fire has now been extinguished.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told Glasgow Live: "We mobilised four appliances to reports of car on fire in the Clyde Tunnel after receiving the call at 7.09pm.

"The fire is now extinguished and two appliances remain in attendance."

Glasgow City Council confirmed the road closure, with advice to follow tunnel operatives directions.

A statement from their traffic control team reads: "Due to a Vehicle fire the Clyde Tunnel is closed in both directions until further notice. Fire services are in attendance."
