Clyde star Craig Howie's season over after suffering fracture in win over Dumbarton

Clyde defender Craig Howie will miss their final game of the season after suffering a fractured cheekbone in their 2-0 win over Dumbarton.

The centre-back, who joined the Bully Wee from Lowland League East Kilbride in July 2019, has been a regular fixture in Danny Lennon's defence this season but he took a blow to the face just over 10 minutes into the second half at Broadwood and needed treatment on the pitch.

He was replaced by Celtic loanee Ewan Otoo and his gaffer Lennon revealed the news isn't good for the 24-year-old ahead of their final game of the season against East Fife on Thursday - a clash that was postponed last Tuesday due to a positive Covid test in the Clyde squad.

In his post-match interview Lennon said: "It's not looking good for Craig.

"There's a dent and a fracture in his cheek, so that's another blow to the list of injuries.

"Fortunately for us, come Tuesday, we'll be able to get the boys out of isolation [from the East Fife fixture] so that's a big boost for us."

The news of Howie's injury comes after it was revealed fellow defender Tom Lang's season is also over.

The ex-Rangers youth needs an operation and has now played his last game for the club, having signed a pre-contract with Championship side Raith Rovers earlier in the season.

Lennon added: "Tom Lang is out as well.

"He's waiting on keyhole surgery for a tidy up on his cartilage.

"But he's done well for us. Big Tom would go through a brick wall for you. He is that type of character.

"He is gutted he can't be out there with the boys, but he's got to make sure he gets himself right and ready for his new adventure."

"He's been absolutely fantastic and a pleasure to work with."
