Clyde pay tribute to former star David Hagen after death at 47 following brave motor neurone disease battle

Clyde have paid tribute to former player David Hagen after he passed away at 47.

The former midfielder has died following a brave two-year battle against motor neurone disease.

Hagen is fondly remembered during his time at Broadwood Stadium for playing a key role in The Bully Wee's First Division title charge in 2003, where they missed out on top flight football on the final day of the season.

The former Rangers and Hearts star also secured his place in the Lanarkshire sides history books as his goal against Raith Rovers in 2001, timed at 16 seconds, became the fastest goal scored at Broadwood at that time.

Clyde chairman, John Taylor said in a club statement: "David was a key member of the squad that almost made history when we missed out on promotion to the Premier League on the last day of the season by Inverness Caley Thistle.

"He was a talented professional who made a significant contribution to The Bully Wee during his time at Broadwood.

"The condolences of all at the club go to David's family at this extremely difficult and sad time."
