Clyde have appeal against punishment for ineligible player rejected

Clyde have had their appeal against their punishment for playing an ineligible player rejected.

The League 2 club had results against Albion Rovers and Queen's Park overturned after playing Declan Fitzpatrick in February.

Clyde had beaten Albion Rovers 1-0 and drawn 1-1 with Queen's Park but both games were given as 3-0 wins over the Bully Wee.

It meant Danny Lennon's men fell behind in the title race with them currently sitting four points behind leaders Peterhead with three games remaining.

The punishment has also helped Rovers off the bottom of the table as they currently sit two points ahead of Berwick Rangers.

A statement on the club website said: "The club has this evening received the determination of the SFA judicial panel following the appeal hearing which took place on Friday 12th April, in respect of the sanction imposed by a sub-committee of the SPFL board on 8th March.

"The appeal has been dismissed by the SFA panel. Consequently, the original sanction of the annulment of two Ladbrokes League 2 results, 3-0 outcomes recorded in favour of the opponents and a £1,500 fine (£1,000 suspended) stands.

"A further statement from the club will follow."
