Clyde face SPFL probe as East Fife game postponed amid Covid outbreak chaos

Clyde's game against East Fife has been postponed with The Bully Wee now facing an SPFL investigation after a Covid outbreak.

Lanarkshire Live Sport revealed earlier today that four players had tested positive for the virus and several others are self-isolating.

The League One clash at Bayview was plunged into doubt by the spread with the Broadwood chiefs locked in talks with the SPFL and SFA Joint Response Group throughout the day.

In a statement tonight, the SPFL have confirmed Danny Lennon's side have "insufficient players to fulfil the fixture".

The SPFL statement read: "Saturday’s Scottish League One match between East Fife and Clyde at the Locality Hub Bayview Stadium has been postponed after Clyde informed the SPFL that they could not fulfil the fixture.

"Clyde have informed the SPFL that, due to four players testing positive for Covid-19 and several other players self-isolating, they have insufficient players to fulfil the fixture.

"As a result, and in line with standard procedure, the SPFL has postponed the fixture pending an investigation into the circumstances leading to the postponement."
