Clyde chairman steps down in midst of coronavirus shutdown cash crisis

Clyde chairman David Dishon has stepped down from his role and from the Bully Wee board amid the SPFL shut down.

The Broadwood supremo previously planned to walk away from the top job and the board at the end of the League One season, but has fast-tracked the decision sighting "business pressures brought on by the current Covid-19 situation".

The board at the Cumbernauld club say they have been working behind the scenes to address the filling of key roles, as identified in the club’s recent strategic plan, however the effect of the virus outbreak has affected that recruitment process.

In a club statement, Dishon said: "It is with great sadness that I am both stepping down from my role as Chairman and I am leaving the club which I have grown to love.

"I made the decision last year when I took on a very demanding new job and my parents needed caring for, so I couldn't cope with juggling everything at night and weekends and something had to give.

"That something was Clyde as the step up to chairman places incredible demands on my time and energy and I couldn't do the role justice.

"It is now time for someone else to take us forward to the next step."

In a previous statement, Clyde warned fans that cash from the Scottish Cup clash with Celtic would not be enough to see the club through the national crisis.

The club have now asked the Broadwood faithful to help back the club during the turbulent months with no football.
